Selecting a General Contractor

After successfully receiving the designation to perform the Jail under the GC/CM procurement path, the County immediately published a Request for Qualifications (RFQ) to select a general contractor to perform in the General Contractor and Construction Manager role. The advertisement was placed in the Daily Journal of Commerce, the Spokesman-Review, and the Grant County Journal.

The County held a mandatory pre-submittal conference on Thursday, October 13th. We had hoped to receive a large turnout, but only two contractors showed up. The good news is that the two that did show up are highly respected firms and both have substantial knowledge of building jails. They are also both local!

Layton Construction and Lydig construction will submit proposals, and we will score, interview, and ultimately select one of them to be our builders.

Take the time to look at their websites and portfolios. You will see that our jail project will be in excellent hands with either one.

Submissions are due October 25th.
