Media Release from the Auditor's Office

The Grant County Auditorís office is closed to the public effective Monday, March 23rd, 2020 until further notice.


We have online self-services options available on our website. If online service is not possible, please call us.


Accounting Office

Our accounting department will be handling the day to day activities through mail, email, fax and phone. Payroll may be picked up at accountingís door during the half hour the mailroom is open (9:30-10 a.m.) on the regular payday only. If payroll is not picked up during the allotted time, live checks will be mailed to employees and paystubs will be sent through interoffice mail.


All special districts A/P & payroll will be done through the mail. If you have any questions please contact:

Department of Licensing

We ask that you process tab renewals via internet if possible at If you do not have access, we have our election drop box available in parking lot A. Place your renewal along with payment in the drop box and it will be processed and returned by mail. Titles along with the proper paperwork can be placed in the election drop box and will be returned by mail. Please contact our office for other transactions needed:


We are asking that all recordings be made through our e-Recording partners or through the mail. If you feel it must be dropped off in person, there will be a drop box in the lobby or you may use the election drop box in parking lot A. Any and all survey and plat maps must be sent through the mail.

Marriage Licenses

If you must obtain a marriage license, please use the online application forms. Once they are filled out, signed and notarized, mail them in with a check for $59.00. We will process the applications and mail the marriage license package to you. Please apply 30 days prior to your ceremony to allow processing and mail time. You are responsible for obtaining a notary for your signatures. Contact our office with any other questions.

About the Auditor

The county auditor has a broad range of duties and responsibilities involving specific statutory functions and county financial administration. The auditor examines and audits county financial records and  prepares the preliminary county budget for the board of county commissioners. The auditor also has functions relating to special districts. Many of the auditors' statutory duties are not associated with county finance.


The primary statutory responsibilities of the county auditor are: (1) recording (recording of real property documents such as deeds and other recorded documents); (2) licensing (licensing, titling, and registration for motor vehicles and watercraft, issuing various licenses such as marriage, and acting as agent for the state Department of Revenue in collecting certain fees and taxes); (3) elections and voter registration (acting as ex-officio supervisor of elections and administering voter registration and elections); (4) county financial audit and administration duties includes auditing county expenditures, serving as ex officio supervisor of the state Auditor's Office Division of Municipal Corporations, preparation and administration of the county budget and preparing the annual financial report.
