Recruiting Lateral Transfer Sheriff's Deputies

The Grant County Sheriff’s Office is recruiting Lateral Transfer Sheriff’s Deputies.

Applicants for Lateral Deputy must:

• Within the last two years, have been employed continuously for 12 months as a full-time employee of a public law enforcement agency in a comparable position;

• Have successfully completed a probationary period; and

• Have successfully completed the Washington State Criminal Justice Training Basic Law Enforcement Academy, or be qualified to take the Washington State equivalency course.

Grant County is in the heart of the Columbia Basin in central Washington State about 100 miles west of Spokane and 130 miles east of Seattle.

The Sheriff’s Office answers about 15,500 calls for service per year. Our response area includes densely populated suburban, large agricultural farms, lakes and rivers, and remote wilderness.

Our 53 deputies provide service through patrol, ORV unit, marine patrol unit, traffic unit, major crimes unit, drug enforcement unit, gang unit, and K9 unit. They are supported by 45 corrections deputies, 18 support personnel and 42 volunteers, including reserve deputies, search and rescue, mounted posse, chaplain and public information officers.
